Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES)

The Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES) is a collaborative process that requires coordination across Commands, the Department of Defense (DoD), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other agencies. The success of the program is based on a consistent order of operations, clear channels of communication, and well understood stakeholder roles and responsibilities.

FAQs

Q: My provider referred me to the MEB, when should I expect to be contacted?
A: The MEB starts upon approval of your profile. Profiles should be dispositioned (approved or returned) within 2 weeks of submission. If you have not been contacted within that time, you will need to follow-up with your referring provider.
Q: Can I take leave while Med boarding?
A: Once you have officially started the MEB (met with your PEBLO and signed all your initial paperwork), you are not permitted leave for 80 days. Or, under emergency situations.
Q: How long does the IDES process take?
A: The IDES timeline goal is 180 calendar days from the date of profile approval to the date of separation. This does not include any number of administrative absences or accrued leave that is authorized during the Transition Phase.
