Fort Irwin is located approximately 37 miles northeast of Barstow, California, in the High Mojave Desert midway between Las Vegas, Nevada and San Bernardino, California. Military Personnel are advised to call the Replacement Detachment prior to arrival to obtain detailed information about the best mode of transportation between servicing airports and Fort Irwin.

Contact the AG Replacement Detachment at (760) 380-4747/3006 or DSN 470-4747/3006 upon arrival. Collect calls are accepted from the three servicing airports. If other transportation is not available, the Replacement Detachment will dispatch a van (if available) to pick up personnel.

Travelers should be prepared to wait a minimum of three hours at the airport, as the van must travel from Fort Irwin to the airport. AG Replacement personnel will not dispatch a vehicle unless the caller is physically present at the airport.

From the Fort Irwin Gate

After entering the gate, follow South Loop Road past the Rotational Unit Bivouac Area (RUBA) on the right and past Fire Station #2 on the left. Continue and the hospital will be on the left. Follow signs for specified parking (staff, visitor, emergency, etc.).
