Mobile Mammography Coming Soon

By Cherry Langston

Why Mobile Mammography Matters
We understand the importance of early detection in the fight against breast cancer. By bringing mammography services directly to our community, we aim to break down barriers to access and make screenings more convenient for everyone. These events not only serve those who are overdue for their screenings but also cater to individuals who are approaching their due dates for breast cancer screening exams.

A Community-Centered Approach
The decision to prioritize mobile mammography as an option for beneficiaries stems from the feedback received during our recent Army Family Action Plan sensing sessions. Quality of life issues, particularly concerning healthcare access and distance to off-post facilities were highlighted, underscoring the need for this service locally.

Your Participation Matters
We urge patients to take advantage of these events and schedule their screenings when contacted. However, we understand that life can be unpredictable. If you have a scheduled appointment but cannot make it, please inform us promptly. This allows us to accommodate those on the waitlist and ensure that everyone who needs a screening can receive one.

Our Inaugural Event
On May 11th 2024, we will host our first event in front of the hospital with a capability of 40 screenings. Staff members have already begun contacting overdue beneficiaries to build out the appointment list. Because of the nature of the appointment, we cannot accept walk-ins or appointments using our normal patient appointment line. We will prioritize filling appointment slots at subsequent events with those overdue or nearly due for screenings. At all events, we will have staff on hand to answer your questions about screening and prevention. Please, come on by!

Stay Informed and Empowered
As part of our commitment to breast health, we encourage everyone, regardless of gender, to explore additional resources for at-home screening and breast cancer prevention. Below, you will find links to online sources where you can learn more about self-examinations, risk factors, and preventative measures.
