Weed Army Community Hospital Staff Mourn the Loss of Colleague

By Cherry Langston

Late in the afternoon on Thursday, Weed Army Community Hospital staff responded to a Code Blue. The call came during a period typically reserved for dedicated staff training, revealing a heartbreaking situation: one of our own. Damien Anthony, a veteran of the Navy and a respected member of the Patient Administration Division, was found unresponsive by a teammate.

Staff immediately sprang into action, performing life-saving procedures. Despite their valiant efforts, they were unable to revive Damien. His sudden loss has sent waves of grief through our hospital community.

Damien leaves behind a loving wife and three children. His passing is not only a profound personal tragedy for his family but also a deep emotional blow to all of us who had the privilege of working alongside him. Damien's commitment to his work, his camaraderie, and his quiet spirit will be sorely missed.

In these difficult times, the entire WACH family mourns together. We extend our deepest sympathies to Damien’s family and friends, and we will continue to support one another as we navigate this loss. The Fort Irwin chaplain and behavioral health staff are available for grief counseling. We encourage staff members to reach out to the chaplain for support at 760-617-2933.

As we remember Damien Anthony, we honor his service, his decade-long contributions, and the positive impact he had on all of us. He will forever remain in our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held sometime in the following month. His family will announce funeral services soon as well.
